You may have been the closest person to Talitha. You were her first real friend in New York when she came here from Missouri. It was you who, in her rare moments of weakness, she shared her fears and doubts with and sought support from. When you got into trouble, she supplied you with money and did not insist on the terms of the promissory notes you always gave her. The sums were not small, but you'd been in touch long enough to consider it just a friendly favor.
You tried to be helpful to her, too. For example, you noticed Talitha's things were missing and talked her into putting up a hidden camera - it turned out her makeup artist, Taylor, was stealing things. Talitha didn't fire or prosecute him, they agreed that Taylor would give her money for the stolen items. As a guarantee, she kept the camera footage for herself.
A few months ago, Talitha shared her misfortune with you - doctors discovered she had a disease that could rob her of her voice. She was to undergo an expensive treatment, and if it failed, the worst was waiting for her - surgery. She was crying from fear, but you assured her that you would keep the secret and that you would always be there for her.
Talitha tried to seem happy, but recently she has not always succeeded - she was losing her temper with her assistants, replying harshly to you, began to quarrel with her boyfriend Harris. Even her makeup artist, who she appreciated in spite of everything, was not spared. You understood her nervousness - she was afraid the treatment wouldn't work.
You even tried to stop borrowing from her, but it didn't work out well. Furthermore, you're a gambler, and you lose a lot of money at poker. You've tried many times to get rid of the destructive attraction, but...
The night of Talitha's death, you were at Club Iguana, and you saw Talitha arguing with her former producer, Mr. Santerini. A temperamental Italian, he could not forgive Talitha for leaving her two years ago for a new producer. He was tormenting her, demanding to return “The Abyss of Love” necklace, given when they were still working together. He even sent threatening letters.
That's the necklace Talitha was wearing that night. After the conversation with Santerini, the girl was clearly not herself. For the first time in her life, she asked you to repay a debt that was due that evening. You asked if it had anything to do with the results of the treatment, but she only said: “I'm going to sue that doctor! But it doesn't matter.” Talitha stated that she had already given your promissory note to someone who would beat the money out of you, that she would go to that person right now and tell him to charge you every dime. After a short conversation Talitha ran away and almost got under the wheels of a cab, in which she immediately left. It was the beginning of the first night. You tried to catch up with her in your car, to calm her down and explain that you would return the money a little later, but you lost sight of her. After circling the waterfront area, you didn't find her and drove home.
During the search, you received a call from Mr. Cooper, the cab driver, at 2:30 a.m. He's the lucky one, you two play together a lot. He asked you where you could find Talitha then. You honestly said you had no idea. You immediately tried to call Talitha, but her cell phone was out of range.
Not only that, but you blame Mr. Santerini for what happened. If he had driven Talitha to suicide, he absolutely has to answer for that.
A few months before her death, Talitha left you an envelope for safekeeping. She asked you to open it only if something happened to her. You brought it to the meeting, as it could prove to be an important piece of evidence.
Your goals:
- To assist the investigation in any way possible.
- To find and convict the person responsible for Talitha's death.
- To avoid a murder charge
You have with you an object:
“AN ENVELOPE WITH A NOTE.”
A large, postal envelope. It has Talitha's handwriting on it: “Open only as a last resort!” It contains a note: “Dear Talitha. I do not forget neither the good nor the evil done to me. Your choices will cost you a lot. Remember, I will get your name on all the 'blacklists' of show business, and make sure you suffer long and hard. Always yours, Santerini.”
The signature matches Mr. Santerini's actual signature. You can tell the other players about the item or keep the information private.
