For decades, the Gallup Institute tested thousands of questions on 35 million (!) employees worldwide, measuring the correlation between their attrition rates and their responses. The result of these years of research is the Gallup Q12, a test of 12 key factors of work engagement.

These 12 questions capture employees' attitudes toward 12 work conditions—the very same ones that most often cause people to quit, or stay but work without passion. Q12 quickly and accurately quantifies colleagues' desire to achieve important business results. Question 13 is the Employee Net Promoter Score (NPS), recognized by HR experts worldwide, and concludes with several questions to determine loyalty.
